Same company, so it could be added. Would like an option to disable it though if added; though there are a lot of security issues. Soo..

Lineage 2 basically had MSN messenger built into the game.
You can chat through MSN while playing the game.
i dont know about MSN specifically, but a more robust chat system would be much appreciated.

Id rather have them integrate with teamspeak or vent. Not many people use MSN in GW.

The fact is that in europe about 75% of people use it. Or that is what M$ says :/ Anyhow, it can be easily added because it is already implemented and means little to no effort to have it on it. I agree with the vent/ts communication system, however that might be more complicated. First of all, we know that they cannot host servers, which means that basically you should have something like a client where you type the address, username and stuff to log in to the server you want. Nice comment, maybe you would like to start a new thread?

What do you think?

Microsoft, Evil, we all know it. MSN.... even worse. Add it into a game? I dont think so. Maybe a protocol which isnt totaly evil, but not MSN. After all, only people who use outlook use MSN, and the people who use outlook pay symantec to clean their machines, which of course gets bogged down so then they end up hating the computer sinces it riddled with viruses and bad antivirus software.
So...no. Not good idea.

I always have to minimize because of MSN, but not really at all because of Vent/ts..not unless you feel the need to change servers every five minutes..

More like it's installed by default and only 25% ever figure out which hoops to jump to uninstall it...
And as I'm in those 25%... /unsigned.

my thoughts exactly. sounds like a good idea, but im more of a visual learner. i would check it out myself since i got a free trial or something when i bought factions pre-order (i think) but i gave that little booklet away to my friend (after i used my pre-order key of course).

Please, use objective reasoning, otherwise it might be considered trolling. The main facts here are:
- Many people use MSN Messenger and it would be a great addition for them to have it inside the game.
- It is already implemented by ANet in Lineage 2 and simply needs a new interface for Guild Wars to be added.
- If you don't like it, you are free to not use it.
To the comment above: the resources that Xfire consumes may cause performance problems on slow computers whereas MSN Messenger, due to the fact that it is already built into the operating system does not.

Well for one; they are two different messengers.
Windows Messenger comes bundled with Windows XP. Some people talk about removing it. However this is not advisable because it will disable some features that are useful, such as Remote Desktop Assistance.
MSN Messenger is what is currently for download on http://messenger.msn.com. Windows Live Messenger (MSN8) has a lot more useful features and looks a lot better too. But it's still beta and will be coming soon. :P
If any outside messenger, be it MSN, AIM, XFire, etc. becomes integrated; there are increased security issues from then on.

It's just that built-in IM has no place in any game. Leave it to the IM developers to make their clients work over DirectX (as Xfire has). Games developers shouldn't waste any resources on such features, especially since implementing one is in effect saying "we support this IM and only this IM!".
